Northville Public Schools is proud to introduce two new School Resource Officers (SROs) from the Northville Township Police Department for the 2025-26 school year. Officer Megan Roy will be based at Northville High School with a four-year assignment, and Officer Emily Key will serve out of Meads Mill Middle School with a three-year assignment. While they each have a home base, both officers will support all schools within the township—ensuring a trusted, approachable presence throughout the district.
“As the new School Resource Officer at NHS, I am excited to protect, mentor, and inspire our students on a daily basis,” said Officer Roy. “I look forward to connecting with all of the NPS staff, parents, and students. Go Mustangs!”
Training and Preparedness
Northville Township Chief of Police Scott Hilden emphasized the department’s commitment to safety as students return this fall. “Northville Township remains committed to protecting students and ensuring a safe learning environment for all. We’re excited to welcome two new SROs for the 2025-26 school year,” Hilden said in a recent Chief's Briefing publication.
Both officers completed extensive training this summer, including ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate). Delivered with a trauma-informed approach, ALICE is designed to prepare staff, students, and community members to respond in an emergency and ultimately save lives. This summer, the department hosted an ALICE training exercise at Ward Church as part of its ongoing effort to keep schools and the community prepared.
ALICE: A Life-Saving Framework
- Alert – Stay aware of your surroundings and recognize signs of danger.
- Lockdown – Enhanced lockdown strategies provide extra time and protection when evacuation isn’t possible.
- Inform – Real-time, accurate information helps guide safe decisions.
- Counter – As a last resort, use movement, noise, and distraction to disrupt an intruder’s focus. Countering is not fighting.
- Evacuate – If safe, leave the area quickly and move to designated rally points.
Additional Safety Resources: OK2SAY
Chief Hilden also highlighted OK2SAY, Michigan’s confidential student safety program that allows students, staff, and families to report threats or suspicious activity. OK2SAY tips are shared with school leaders, law enforcement, and mental health professionals to ensure coordinated responses.

Continuing Partnerships
As we look ahead, we also extend our gratitude to Officers Michael Brown and Sergeant Robert McFadden for their service and support. Officer Patrick Lindberg will continue serving Hillside Middle School through our valued partnership with the City of Northville Police Department.
Our SROs do more than provide security—they build relationships, foster trust, and create safe, welcoming environments across all Northville schools. We are grateful for the commitment of Officers Roy, Key, and Lindberg, and for our strong partnerships with both the Northville Township and City of Northville Police Departments. Together, we are making Northville Public Schools a safe place to learn, grow, and thrive.
