All Six Elementary Schools Received Lighthouse Academic Honor Roll Recognition

Recently, all six elementary schools at Northville Public Schools earned recognition as a 2022 Leader in Me Lighthouse Academic Honor Roll school. The Lighthouse Academic Honor Roll was created to recognize Leader in Me schools that have met both the rigorous requirements necessary to achieve and maintain Lighthouse School Certification and shown exemplary academic growth or proficiency as measured by state accountability standards.

“The Lighthouse Academic Honor Roll Distinction is a true honor and testament to the hard work and dedication of our teachers and students. As a result of the strong pedagogical skills of our teachers, intentional focus on the 7-habits by students and staff, and the use of the 4DX goal setting process for setting individual academic goals, our student achievement mirrored our pre-pandemic levels. This truly is something we can all be proud of!” explained Katie Booth, principal at Silver Springs Elementary School.

The Lighthouse Academic Honor Roll designation is determined through the data analysis of an independent nonprofit – schooldigger.com –  a website focused on empowering families with reliable data about the performance of their children’s school. The schooldigger.com algorithm scores on a percentile ranking, comparing like-schools across the state. To meet the academic proficiency standard, a school must be at or above the 85th percentile for the state’s combined proficiency standards. To meet the academic growth standard, the school must be at or above the 50th percentile and have shown a 5 percent growth from the previous year’s percentile ranking.

For example, Silver Springs Elementary rose in 2022 to 94.35% in Michigan, up from 89.29% in 2021, meeting both the academic-proficiency and academic-growth standards for this recognition. To honor our achievement as a Lighthouse Academic Honor Roll school, all six elementary schools received a special decal that can affix to their Lighthouse Banner.
