Gratitude / Safe & Happy Thanksgiving

Dear Northville Public Schools' Students, Parents, Staff and Community Members,

As a reminder, today (Wednesday, November 24, 2021) is a half-day of school for all students, with school/district offices closing one hour earlier than a typical day.  All Northville Public Schools’ will be closed for the Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday, November 25 and Friday, November 26, 2021.  School reconvenes on Monday, November 29, 2021.

As you make your plans for Thanksgiving, we implore you to take into consideration ways to safely gather with friends and family.  COVID-19 cases are on the rise, with reported upticks in hospitalizations and quarantines,  here in Northville, in Wayne and Oakland Counties, and across our state and nation.  Please consider these CDC guidelines on safe ways to celebrate the holidays.  This includes physical distancing, wearing masks in group settings, frequently washing hands, and diligence with symptom-monitoring and testing or isolating.  Safer celebrations will help protect our students, staff, and families when we return back together next week.  It takes all of us working together to keep students, staff, and families safe, and limit the disruption to in-person learning that comes with absences and quarantines.

As a school community, we have much to be grateful for, including our compassionate and impactful principals, teachers and staff who strive to maximize each and every child’s potential; our incredible school families and community members who value the education of our young people in both word and action; and, most of all, our 7,200+ students who are the essence of our learning communities and whose voices are essential to our ongoing growth and success as a community.

There is no greater work than impacting the lives of our students in powerful and meaningful ways, and we are committed to creating the best possible learning environment in our classrooms, in our schools, and in all that we do as we seek to build on our Tradition of Excellence and strive to open A World of Possibilities for and with each of our students.  We are grateful for our partnership with parents, families and our Northville school community in this effort.

We wish each of our families and staff members a safe and joyful Thanksgiving weekend, and the gift of gratitude and time with those you hold dear, and the opportunity to rest, relax and rejuvenate.  For those grappling with loss, or for whom the holidays are difficult, we wish you the gift of hope and healing, and the knowledge that you are not alone and that people care.
Warmly,

Mary Kay Gallagher
